A square blanket knitted from the centre out. My sister-in-law is coordinating an ongoing supply of snuggly cuddle-blankets to the ward of Christchurch Children’s Hospital where my late niece spent a lot of time, and this blanket will be sent there.

Rough details:

• Shaping created by (k1, yo, k1 on corner stitch, yo, k1) at the four corners every second row.
• Eyelet rows were (yo, k2tog) repeated between each corner.
• Initial pattern: 4x plain row, eyelet row, plain row, eyelet row, 4x plain row, eyelet row; repeated several times.
• Later pattern: Same as before, but 6x plain row instead of 4x.
• Border was moss rib i.e. plain row and (k1, p1) row alternated.
• One garter ridge at end (I turned it over and knit on the wrong side), then bound off on wrong side.
