Notes

Making some mittens out of scraps because my hands got cold walking the kid to school last winter, but I didn’t want to buy new yarn.

They’re mostly sport weight, with two strands held together, swapped around as scraps ran out and to distribute the colours. I used lots of smaller scraps, some just a metre or so long, as well as those yarns listed above.

No specific pattern; I just cast on 36st, knit a bunch of 2x2 ribbing, maintaining the rib on the back of the hand but switching to stockinette for the palm, and a thumb gusset. Plus a simple buttonhole placed to let the tip of my right index finger poke out when desired, aka the “Pokémon Go hole” :D

Sometimes knitting is carefully chosen patterns and exquisite materials, and sometimes it’s chunky fugly mittens, and I like both kinds!
