This is my first #makeninein2019 project on my list! I’ve never made a lace shawl in the round before so hopefully it works out.
I cast on to a 120 cm needle and did magic loop until I could switch to my 30 cm needle.. can’t remember what round it was.
Round 85 I switched back to 120 cm needle.

Finished the chart a while back and decided it needed to be bigger. I wasn’t sure the best way to go about it, so I took a chance and just started knitting a chart from another shawl. It was a larger number of repeats per round but the stitch count divided evenly into the number of stitches I had. I did end up knitting three plain rounds before starting the new chart to finish off the feather and fan pattern, it just seemed like the right thing to do..
I picked the Autumn Rose shawl from MMario, just the final chart in the pattern.
It seems to be working out! I won’t know for sure until it’s off the needles, but it appears to be flat still. The chart I chose is 60 rows and works out to be over 1100 stitches. I’m up to that stitch count now and have less than 20 rounds to go! I hope I can finish this week but it’s slow going…

4.5 rows to go! I’m going to finish this baby this week! I am really hoping I didn’t screw up by knitting a random chart and ending up with a wonky circle.. the more I think about it, the more I worry it’s going to look weird and be a colossal waste of time and resources.. I guess it’ll be a teaching moment though?
I already have more circular shawls in mind for my next big project anyway.

I’m on the last RS row! It’ll be a week before I can block this monster, but at least I should have it off the needles this weekend and be on to something new!

Done! Can’t block it for a week.. I need a space that’s kid free. Not sure how much yarn is left on this cone but I did use well over half

Annnd it’s pinned out! I can’t wait for it to dry.. it is about 56” in diameter. I wish the yarn was more of a true black, but I’m not going to knit pick (sorry). Next time I will absolutely learn to do the closed loop cast on
