Weekend in Newport makes for productive knitting:
- Completed Rows 4-12 (again).
- Completed Rows 13-14, safely past the previous frog point.
- Completed Rows 15-16 on the car-ride home today.
- Completed Rows 17-19 before dinner.
- Completed Row 20 (final) after dinner. (Tipsy, but no OOPS!)
Began bindoff:
- Using a US 7 (4.5mm)
- Pattern calls for a p2tog BO but I don’t want the edges to curl so I’m doing a k1, *k1, k2togtbl* instead.
Thursday, Aug 2
Was on row 12 of the edging when I decided all those rows looked like a dog’s breakfast and ripped back to the pick-up. Babycakes here almost lost project-bag status, but I chose mercy, and picked up the stitches, powered through the increase and finished with a knit row. Now we’re ready for lace. (Row 4, some 395 stitches. Kill me now.)
Monday, July 16
- With only a few mishaps, completed the garter-stitch body.
- Not counting the set-up and finishing rows, 188 rows to increase, 184 to decrease.
- Picked up 199 stitches and completed first row of lace section.
Monday, July 9
- Cast-on and completed some 52 increase rows.
- The rows are small and increase by one stitch every four.
- By the next day I blew past 100.
In Closing:
-
My remaining yarn weighed 31g before starting Row 17 (WS), to be followed by the final lace row, 18. I was trying to figure out how to add one more lace row after Row 19 (k2, *p*, k2) to use up more of the skein, but couldn’t quite work it out, so I’ll have some pesky leftovers. This pattern would benefit from an auxiliary chart and adjustment possibilities.

Used ChiaGoo Red Lace (stainless steel) US 5 fixed circulars. Some slippage, but less than I’d have thought. Not quite as sharp as I’d like where k2togs are concerned. Smooth sailing otherwise.
