Gauge: Using a US4, my swatch is 24 sts/4”
03/08/12
- Wove in ends.
- Hemmed bottom and top edges using a sewing needle.
- Can I just mention how handy an empty yarn cone is for this process? No danger of over-tightening and didn’t even need to pin the hems.
03/06/12
- Bound off thumb.
- Still need to weave in ends.
- Still debating the hems.
03/03/12
- Bound off hand of 2nd mitt.
- Finish the thumb hopefully within a day or two. My track record is dubious.
02/14/12
- Cast on 2nd mitt.
- Completed up through first 2 rows of lace repeat.
02/11/12 Ripped back to second-to-last purl row. Finished thumb and bound off with only 16 stitches.
02/11/12 First glove complete (minus finishing).
- Thumb: Picked up a stitch plus 15 transferred from waste yarn. Knit 2 rows then decreased to 14 sts in row 3.
- Knit 3 more rows, M1 in row 6
- Increased 1 (M1P) in first purl row.
- Increased 2 in final knit row. This could have been excessive but still deciding what to do: undo bindoff and rip back removing 2 decreases or just sew slack.
02/11/12 Wintry day. Completed all but the thumb on glove #1
Measurements:
- 42 rows stockinette between lace repeat and thumb gusset.
- Thumb gusset repeat Row 1, (Row 2-4) x 5 or (1 + 15 rows). Medium size called for only 4 iterations but I went up one size to accomodate palm-heel length.
- 5 rows stockinette after placing thumb stitches on waste yarn and casting on 1 stitch and rejoining for hand and lace repeat for the hand.
- Gusset worked up to 15 thumb stitches.
02/01/12 Finished row through row 20 of stockinette stitch following the 11-row lace pattern. Happily infatuated with the potential here. Need shorter needles. It’s great that 8” dpns allow me to try the gloves on as I go, but they’re like knitting with a porcupine.
01-31-12 CO 48 with US 4 dpns. Tried magic loop first but not entirely confident with that process.
Made it past decrease row into Row 5 of the lace sequence. Love the color breaks. The green-grey passages play quite nicely with the slate blue.
