Notes

Since I’m using different yarn and needles than the pattern calls for, I’m going by measurements. Somehow I’m getting the proper measurements by following the small size. What?

Also, there’s no way I’ll have enough yarn. So I’m gonna give this some racing stripes.

Using slip knot cast on for sides.

Had to take a short break to make some slippers for my dad’s upcoming hospital stay. Back at this sweater now. Decided to bind off neckline, etc, instead of keeping the sts live so that there will be some structure to this. I think with the loose gauge and lighter weight yarn, it would end up a bit shapeless and bag-like if I didn’t.

Sigh. Well, I have been changing colors for the stripes on row 5 of the Roman stripe. But while that created technically equal stripes on each side of the texture, it does not create visually equal stripes. I should have changed after row 4. I’m too far into it to change it now but next time I’ll know better.

Main knitting is done. I’m blocking it and then will seam it up and knit the neckband.

I’m afraid my gauge has changed a little from one end to the other but hopefully it won’t make much of a difference. I apparently don’t knit as tightly when it is cold out.

The yarn has a bit of a clearer color tone at the end compared to the beginning. I guess that’s the risk of hand dyed yarn.

Seaming the sides together with slip st crochet. I am actually loving this method. I hate sewing because my stitches are always uneven and bunch but seaming with crochet is awesome!

Next up: neckband.

Yarn: 160g
After first sleeve (before increase): 129.1g left
After 3 repeats of stripe pattern full length: 114.5g left
(3 stripe repeats = just over 2”)
After 9 repeats of stripe pattern full length:86g left
