Notes

See if I can get gauge with yarn held double…
No, no I cannot. But if I knit the 43” with my gauge, I should get an almost 37” (36.8”) bust which would give me almost 3” of ease which should be great for a casual over-sweater. The alternative is go for bigger needles but I don’t think I would like the material that creates as I wish even the current swatch were a bit thicker/cushier.

Unblocked swatch: 15 sts x 20 rows = 4”
Blocked swatch: 14 sts x 19 rows = 4”

Two-stranded tubular cast on (Sease p306).
Russian bind off in pattern (Sease p450).

Mods:

  • I wanted more stitches for the collar to help keep it folded down as many people seem to have a problem with it flipping. I didn’t want a button band as others have done though because I want to do a zipper and I think the icord will look best with it. So instead I continued the collar increase every row for 6 more rows which gives a great collar width.
  • I did the cuff lengths to 4.5” (as very long cuffs can bother me some). I plain knit to a total of 6” and continued with the pattern from there.
  • Did the pockets in the round in lighter weight yarn and size US3 needles. I picked up 21 from back and front and on the first round, increased after every 2nd st. Knit 36 rnds. 4 rnds with decreases every rnd. Graft closed.

Finally got the zipper installed! It was intimidating so I let it languish. But now it’s all done and it’s lovely! Double zipper installed by hand - not fun but I think I did it well. Lined pockets sewed down. Very happy with this!
