Decided to do this project to learn how to use DPNs. They are somewhat awkward to work with. I suppose it will take lots of practice!

Grr! I keep screwing up on rounds 14/15. The increases and decreases come in and suddenly I don’t have enough stitches or I have too many. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong so I’ve frogged it and will take a break and restart later.

I restarted and got to just before the rounds that caused the trouble for me before and then I noticed… I had managed to add an extra stitch somehow. Sigh. So I think that’s fixed. And I practiced increases and decreases too so I think that I’m ready to do these rounds. Finally.

Learning is good! I’ve finally figured out how I added extra stitches earlier and I’ve made enough mistakes that I think I’ve learned a decent amount about going back and fixing stitches.

I decided to do a seersucker pattern for the bag body and I’m liking that. Not all that thrilled about the purl lumps at the top of the bag. Eh, maybe it will come together more at the end once there is a drawstring in there? Or else I’ll just write this one off as great learning experience.

Finished the bag yesterday and sewed in the ends. Today I’m working on the I-cord. I untwisted the Shepherd’s Shades to use just two of the three threads. Also, decided to CO 3 instead of 5 for the I-cord since the 5 was shaping up to be too large, especially for the rough texture of the thread.

Blocking. The yarn smells like wet dog.
