Notes

Toe up, attempting a patterned toe.

This is what I get for not planning ahead. Because the total stitch number changes each round, even though this sock is based on 60 sts, it is effectively much larger - most repeats end up 13 or 14 sts instead of 10. Which means this is huge on me. So I will be restarting the sock based on 50 sts/5 repeats. Fingers crossed.

Okay, 5 repeats seems perfect. It ends up being a 60-62 st sock, which is smaller than my norm, but the pattern is so stretchy it seems like a great fit. The leg might end up a bit loose, but I’m not sure what can be done about that.

This pattern has been surprisingly easy to memorize. I’m not great at remembering even slightly complex things so I’m pretty pleased about that. Also, it looks so fab.

I’m a bit sad about how the sock has started pooling on the leg. Or rather, I like the spiral but am sad about the change from no pooling to pooling. I like consistency.

Used “Sarah’s Favorite Bind Off” (Sease 502) with backward cast ons in between stitches of the same type (k, bc, k, p, bc, p, bc, p).

I took these on vacation (and forgot my sock ruler) so now I have a German ruler with the length marked at where to turn my heel. (18.4cm, for the record, for a FLK heel using 3 extra stitches on each side. I simply must learn to write down specific measurements because apparently I don’t always have my cheat tools with me and it took me a while of looking through old projects to figure out how long my sock needed to be when I turned the heel in inches so I could convert it to cm. 7.25”, for the record.)
