I need something that can be simple enough that I can baby this yarn through some weak spots. I’ve done this pattern before and it’s fun and gives a different look. I think I will adapt the width of the garter bands to make the wider.

Half & half toe: 24/40/68
Doing 10 st garter bands, 4 rnd stripes between. (Oops. Aparently sometimes 5 and 6 rnd stripes between. Sigh.)
FLK heel over 32 sts: 11/10/11

Holy crap, I cannot count. I have different numbers of rows in the plain knit stripes between the garter bands. One I have 5, one 4, one 3…. this is why I should not knit anything more complex than stockinette when I am having a medical reaction going on. I’ve gone so far, I don’t want to rip back but at this point I don’t think I could make the heels even making one foot longer than the other. I seriously have had to rip back so much with these sock just from not paying attention. I’m not sure if I want to do it again……..

Okay. Crap. I’m going to rip back one band on the first sock (which only has two garter sections so one plain knit section and it is also the one with 5 rnds) and then match the plain knit bands to the other sock (with 3 then 4 rnds), then go from there making sure to match the plain sections between the socks (and hopefully consistently to the other, future, bands) going forward. Sigh.
