Notes

I wanted to make a slouchy hat for spring/fall weather for my daughter who lives in England and actually wears hats all the time, especially the slouchy ones.
This hat pattern fits the yarn perfectly. The yarn is wool, not cotton, but it is light and soft (especially after being socked in Eucalan + fabric softener for a while).
According to the pattern, you are supposed to make 91 rows after ribbing (16 rows of the pattern, and then it says “patt further for 75 rows”). I stopped after 60 rows were made. It looked like enough slouch even for my daughter’s taste.
The pattern is explained row-by-row only, without schematics, and since I was making it in the round, I had to be creative and rewrite it with only right-side rows. When I was almost done, though, I discovered the schematics that would have helped me a great deal on page 77 of the book Wilder.
Also, there is a little mistake in Row 3 of Shape top. It should read: 4 knit, 3 p tog, yfwd, 2 p tog.
Since I was making it in the round, I had only 16 sts at the end.
I liked this pattern a lot. It is easy and entertaining at the same time. The hat is practical and cute, plus - you can regulate the level of the slouch yourself! Blogged here.
