Notes

Since I bought this yarn several years ago I was looking for a right project for it. The yarn is soft, tweedy, and warm, but kind of finicky: nothing seemed to look good in it, definitely not cables or stockinett. It was a stroke of luck when I tried the ribbing from my new Japanese book A Book of Sweater Knitting With White Yarn by Saichika and it looked absolutely perfect in this yarn.
I almost finished my first version of this jacket in one week (yes, it was this fast!) but then had to unravel the whole thing (I was positive that there wasn’t enough yarn to finish the sleeves, plus I made it longer and I didn’t like the longer version).
My second version is the same length as the pattern but it got pockets (!!!) and I made some other subtle modifications to make it look more polished and to prevent the jacket from stretching with wearing (I used tubular cast on for the fronts, and icord finishing for the bottom).
The final result surpassed my expectations. This jacket is so soft and cozy that I want to snug in it even with 80F outside. Plus it got pockets and everything is better with pockets, right?
The pattern has detailed step by step explanations and is really interesting to knit.
The yarn was amazing - soft and squishy, it was extremely easy and enjoyable to work with.
