For our “Bolt” we used 4mm instead of the suggested 3mm needles, and we used just a hair more than one skein of the main colour (Sweatshirt) and one skein of the contrast colour (Cast Iron).

The pattern itself calls for 305 yards (about 30 yards more than a single skein) of each colour, but it also explains how to use only one skein so long as you get gauge and don’t mind a slight change in the finished dimensions.
