When this pattern was released, we were immediately charmed by the bold stripes and colour blocking.

Much as we loved the pattern, our project didn’t come out exactly to specifications. Our knitter’s gauge was off which meant that our 9-12 month size measures more closely to the 6-9 month size. Additionally, we found that the neck was very tight and wouldn’t go over a baby’s head (for those without children, they’re bigger than you’d think!)

Our recommendation to anyone making this pattern is to ensure the neckline is stretchy enough when you pick up the ribbing. Alternatively, we think that Not Just An Ordinary Stripe by Anne B Hanssen could be easily adapted to mimic the colour blocking used in our sample. It features buttons at the neckline which make it easier to get over baby’s head.
