Jennifer, a friend of Beehive, knit this sweater for herself, but she ultimately decided that she didn’t love it, so it has come to live with us, and we all want one of our own!
The sweater would look equally lovely in a solid shade of Shelter, or if you are very ambitious, you could make a custom marl with two colours of Loft.
From Jennifer’s project page:
I followed Heidi’s precise and always so thorough pattern to the letter, other than a few exceptions. I got gauge on a 4mm needle so I did the ribbing on a 3.75mm needle. I lengthened the body by 2.5 inches and I believe it grew a little longer in the blocking process. Heidi’s directions for the neck were wonderful. I tend not to wear turtlenecks, but this one is not too loose or too tight, but just right!
I was really surprised to notice once my Inside Story was off the blocking board that two skeins of Newsprint created striping through the body even though they were all of the same dyelot and it is a marled yarn. It is certainly something I didn’t see while knitting… it is a minor disappointment.
I had asked Heidi about getting the front ribbing raglan lines straighter, and I believe her tweaking of the foundational distribution of the stitches worked. I was equivocating on whether to lengthen the arm hole depth, and opted for following the pattern. If I were do the pattern again, I might add a few straight rows before separating and starting on the body. The arm depth was exactly as stated in the pattern at 8.5” for L1.
Overall, it is a great pullover, nicely oversized and cozy! Thanks, Heidi!
