We wanted the decreases on our shawl to mirror the decorative edge of the increase side of the shawl. We’ve made the following changes to the pattern for our sample.

After completing the centre section, work the body section:

  • Body row 1 (RS): k2, SM, YO, k2tog, k to marker,SM, (k1, p1) to end.
  • Body row 2 (WS): (p1, k1) to marker, SM, p until 4 sts remain, p2togtbl, SM, k2.

Repeat body rows 1 and 2 until you have 1 st in body section. Next row is RS row.

Work the top and sides edges section:

  • Edges row 1 (RS): k2, SM, YO, k2tog, p1, (k1, p1) to end.
  • Edges row 2 (WS): (p1, k1) to last 4 sts, k2togtbl, SM, k2.
  • Edges row 3 (RS): k2, SM, YO, p2togtbl, (k1, p1) to end.
  • Edges row 4 (WS): (p1, k1) to last 4 sts. p2togtbl, SM, k2.

Repeat rows 1 through 4 until 4 sts remain. BO all sts on RS.
