My own pattern for a short row hat with chunky yarn. I’m decreasing by one stitch every row for 3 rows, then sc joining into BLO on every 4th row.
Use 1 strand #5 or #6 weight yarn or two strands #4.
Row 1 35 hdc blo all stitches (35)
Row 2 hdc blo all, skip last (FO) (34)
Row 3 new color join to 2nd st skipping first st, hdc blo across (33)
Row 4 blo across, sc in last st, then continue to sc in skipped sts from Rows 2 and 3. (35)
My first attempt was with a 6mm hook. I didn’t like the fabric it created at all, so I started over with an 8mm hook. It’s much better.
I’m changing color/yarn after every 2 rows.
At 24 rows/12 colors, it’s 13” wide.
FINAL
36 rows (18 colors)
After joining, flat: 11 1/4” wide x 12 1/2” tall
6.27 oz yarn
