I’m between projects, so I decided to start another one of these. First project here.
On this one, my plan is to block the colors together rather than be random. That helps me only have one color of scraps with me at a time rather than have all the bags out.
Another difference on this one vs. the first one is that I’m using a larger hook AND still using the ch 1 between clusters and ch 2 in the corners. I’m not thinking this will be for a baby, so I’m not worried about the size of the holes as much. Plus, I’d like it to grow a little faster than the first one.
Yet another difference on this one is I’m working in the ends as I go like I do regular granny square blankets rather than pulling the new color through on the last stitch. There are more knots, which has a drawback of course, but the ends are secure, so I’m hoping the border will mask the knots.
I started alternating orange and yellow (I don’t have much of either, and I keeps the scraps in a bag together, so that made sense). I’ve done 10 rows at 2 rows per color, and I might do one more color (or reuse one).
I think my order is going to be as follows based on how much of each color(s) I have in the scrap bin:
1 yellow/orange (alternate) (12)
WHITE (2)
2 pinks/purples (alternate) (12)
WHITE (2) finished 7/15/25
3 reds (10) finished 7/15/25
WHITE (2) finished 7/15/25
4 blues (10) finished 7/21/25
WHITE (2) finished 7/22/25
5 greens (10) finished 7/24/25
WHITE BORDER
2 granny rounds
1 hdc or sc round.

As of this morning before work, I have finished the purple and pink section, the two rows of white, and started the red section. No photo yet.
After work: finished the red section.

As of this morning before work, I have started the blue section (6 rows at this point). 29.5” x 27.25”
Kinda wish I’d separated those earlier sections instead of combining them.

As of this morning before work, I have started the green section. On the third shade now. I realize that my calculations were off yesterday, so I could’ve done more blue or had a section of aqua/teal between the blues and greens. Not going back, though. This one will just be a little smaller than the previous one.

As of this morning before work, I almost completed two border granny rounds of white. Current measurements are approx. 42” x 38” with 62 rows of color before the border.

Sewed in all ends. There’s still one stitch in the red with a weird loop that I need to fix.
