Alicia chose this color over ILTY “Red” to match her Target employee jacket.
She only specified the color and let me choose the pattern. This one looks so cool and not too torturous. So far it has been very interesting.
Started with a swatch this morning. What I learned from that and also from completing one row of the pattern is that if I follow the child directions I will get an adult size. I really appreciate the notes on measurements throughout so you can be sure you’re on track for the size you’re making.
TIPS: Some tips I discovered for myself that made a big difference in the workflow …
1) Mark the first and last stitch of the “body” portion. That helps with counting and to not “lose” the beginning or end stitch.
2) On the printed pattern, I drew down arrows next to the rows that go from the top down, and up arrows next to the rows that go from the bottom up. Super helpful for keeping my place.
UPDATE on size:
2/8/24 Turns out that following the child directions didn’t quite reach the measurements for the adult hat that my swatch led me to believe it would. I am adding more rows to reach the full width needed, and I’m hoping it’s long enough.
2/9/24 I actually only added one more row. It didn’t measure what it was supposed to measure, but I figure that’s an error on my part (with measuring). I wrapped it around my head and decided it would be too big if I kept going. As of this morning, I just need to weave in ends and add a pom.
FINAL MEASUREMENTS:
