My garage has been a mess since I moved into the house. Ben took over one bay to create a shop. This was fine with me, but what was not fine with me is he decided to paint his part while I was in Washington, DC. He used 30 year old paint and dumped stuff he didn’t want in my bay and outside.

I decided this summer to “do it right” and paint the entire interior of garage white. Oh boy, what a job!

7/23/24 Storage PODS was delivered. I wanted it in the driveway but there wasn’t enough space so it ended up on the street in front of house. This meant everything had to be carried down the front steps or around the block.

8/1 Painters arrived and started prep. Taped and draped with plastic. Sprayed to coats of primer and two coats of final color. Finished spraying 8/3.

8/4 Started hauling everything back to garage. Posted a bunch of stuff up on Buy Nothing. Realized most of the stuff in the garage is Ben’s!

Purchased three 4’x8’ pieces of pegboard. Painted them white.

Waiting to hear back from Earthwise salvage if they’ll take stove, lighting, columns, tile, etc.

Texted Jacob for help installing pegboard.

Emailed Gabor about installing three outlets.

8/9 Cleared PODS and called for pick up. Taking the weekend to rest because I am exhausted.

8/12 No response from Gabor so emailed Home Owner Club for electrician to install the outlets.

9/8 Found someone through FB marketplace to take the 30+ boxes of tile. Yay! Feels fabulous to have it gone. Working to get rid of the rest.

9/9 Electrian came and installed three outlets but discovered ground wire was live. Very unsafe. Grateful he found the problem and was able to fix it, but it took the whole day and now the outside lights on garage don’t work. Electrician coming back in two weeks to correct and do additional work.

9/10? Took columns and iron beds to Earthwise.

9/23 Electrician returned and finished job.

10/5 Jacob installed pegboard.

10/26 Put tools back on pegboard.

11/2 Gas stove picked up. Still have things to do but I’m calling it done. Decided not to put in new lighting…to expensive.
