12-4-25--Finished! No idea how much yarn I used since I ripped this 3 times and I have scraps everywhere that I plan on using for the other 3 I need to make for next year.
11-25-25—almost finished. Need to make the hanger tab and add tree and wreath decorations.
11-7=25--Followed the striping pattern but used the Doodle stocking pattern and things went much better. Now comes the fun part, duplicate stitching all the designs and name.
10-30-25--No happy with the way this working up and I cannot get the heel/gusset/foot of sock to work out. I have tried different ways following these instructions from both the patterns I bought off etsy and the vintage pattern from my family member and they just don’t work! I think I’m going to redo this following the basic Doodle sock pattern that is knit in the round and either do stranded or duplicate stitching for everything although I’m not a fan of that much duplicate stitching. Some of parts I can probably do stranded breaking the yarn at the end of the pattern and using a new strand when I get back to the stranded sections.
Making stockings for the grandkids to match their parents’ stockings that were made by their great aunt.
I couldn’t decide whether to do duplicate stitch or intarsia so I followed the pattern for intarsia but I’m really not a fan. I prefer stranded colorwork.
I also decided to use duplicate stitch for the name and I’m pretty sure I will duplicate stitch some of the snowman, eyes, nose, buttons and probably arms.
I’m hoping I can steam block some of the holes and puckers out of the trees although this is acrylic so I will be careful.
It is going much faster than I thought it would. I just need to find a better way to do the colorwork. I really didn’t want a ton of floats on the inside but if stranded knitting looks better (I am better at stranded knitting) then that’s what I will do.
