Notes

November 2013
I can’t believe it’s a year since I did this. I haven’t worn it at all because it looks awful! My fault for being chubby and old. SO, I’ve pulled it apart and am making it into a cardigan.
Phew!

Finished! I undid the neck and sleeve banding and the shoulder seams, and made the shoulders and back longer, adding another main pattern repeat to the (at the top), then re-did the ribbing with a stripe. The orange (in the stripe) is on the pearl stitch so it’s subtle.
You can see I put my insigna into the extra back patter (if you look hard enough). The armholes are too low and I didn’t really need the extra side bits but it’s OK.
Might try Eunny’s Ivy League Vest next.
Early Feb
I do love this vest, but although I checked my little tension swatch, I never checked the actual garment, so the vest is not as wide as it ought to be and way shorter than I should have ever imagined would be ok. And the thing is… I knew! I just ignored myself, as usual. Idiot!
So… I slid the needle through a row near the ribbing, cut it off and started knitting the other way, to lengthen it. It’ll be fine. Under the arms I’ll add a little wedge, for extra ease. THEN, I’ll write it all down and have a template for What To Do Next Time!

This is working out nicely. I’ve changed some of the colours (from what I’d purchased already) and am very happy. The Morris wool is so soft!
I’ve made a few mods.:
Chart 1: Did it plain.
Chart 2: Left out the top and bottom bands. Made the centre row other colours to match with the centre rows of Chart 3. Used the same background colour as the bottom of the vest.
That’s all so far. I’ll stick a photo up soon. It’s luvverly! Good to use some little balls of wool I’ve had forever!
