Notes

3rd and final day. Yay!
I changed the face (eye embroidery) and I’m happy! Cost nothing, took no time and will give me fun for years to come!
Here’s the back, pre stitched-in too, for a good tangly photo!
2nd day, late
I’ve finished one. Taken out the eyes 2-3 times and just Google Imaged ‘kittens faces’. Gonna have to unpick the embroidery on them again and do real, kitty cat, coloured eyes. I’m an embroiderer foremost after all and have fun doing the eyes on my potholders.
Note: My shading is different to tinyowls, the values are in different places and it’s not as pretty. Some serious and late night fudging coming up. Where’s the chocolate?
2nd day
Yay! I followed advice and intarsia-ed it. You need such a teeny little bit of wool for each contrast, so I just wound a smidge and had a trillion smidges falling down the back (easy to pull a single tangled thread free, rather than a ball). I’ll fudge the silly loose stitches at the side, ala a-darning-type-situation.
Just watched tinyowls instructional Youtube and listened to her gorgeous music (which coincidentally I have on a compilation cd of Barry Humphries favourite gramophone records).
TOO much fun!
1st day
I’ve already pulled one almost-complete Kitty Cat out. Managed to do it in the wrong place! I guess it goes between the flags… should have trusted my instincts there.
The wools are so old. I used the tan in a hat for my baby now (almost) 36 year old son! Even then I’d had it for some time and my Grandma may have previously had it forever before me! The teal came in the same bundle.
This multi-colour stranded work is fussy! I thought I was clever since I’ve done a fair whack of Fairisle, but that’s always 2 strands per row. PHEW! My first attempt was somewhat lumpy.
Still, they’re not big so here goes again… I’ll do my best. I think I’ll wind the strands together… as in, I’m using 3 strands for the tan, same for the teal, 2 for the mohair etc. It just adds to the whole grumpiness.
In showing my daughter, we saw Tiny Owls Catching Butterflies again (been in my faves) so I had to purchase it!
