Starting by swatching! O_o

Holding the yarn double, since the pattern calls for something thicker than this. (I think it’s fingering? Hard to tell because it’s so fuzzy!)

Anyway, I CO 13 stitches, and did something like 26 rows to make it a square. That’s gonna be fun for figuring into the pattern…. >_<

Finally washed my swatch. It didn’t shrink a whole lot, but I’m guessing that the net effect will be larger? Gonna cast on for reals anyway and see what happens!

Well, I don’t have enough yarn to do two in the full double-knit, and I’ve gotten quite far with the single knit, but I’m kinda unhappy with the fact that it’s so loose… so I’ll probably do some sort of second layer on the bottoms. Or I won’t worry about it because they’re going into other slippers. This has gotten to be a more involved project than I anticipated. >_<

wow has it really only been three weeks since I worked on these? It feels like /forever/.

The first one is done, and I’ve finally broken through my Second Sock Syndrome to cast on the other one. Hopefully they come out mostly the same, because I failed to make notes of how I did the decreases for the toe. It’s mostly the same structure as the pattern, so hopefully I’ll be able to re-figure how I did the other.

Finished the second one ages ago, and they’ve been sitting on the coffee table since then waiting to be photographed. Now that’s done I can wash them - hope they come out a reasonable size!

Well, they didn’t felt up anywhere near as much as I expected, so they’re still massively too big.

I asked at my monthly knitting group, and the consensus was that a zig-zag stitch on the sewing machine should be fine. So yesterday I did two things I’ve never done before - used a sewing machine on my knitting, and CUT my knitting!

It seems to have worked beautifully. ^_^
