A fun project to learn intarsia and embroidery, as a warm-up for the Florality sweater or on it’s own.

The exact gauge on a cowl is not very important, but a swatch that includes the intarsia and embroidery could be a good if you’ve never tried either.

My row gauge got a bit tighter when blocked. Row gauge before blocking was closer to 32, vs 35 after. St gauge was 24/ 10 cm before vs 23.5 after.

The yellow dots on the cowl are slightly smaller than on the back of the sweater. The embroidered spokes on the cowl each have 5 stitches (back stitch) vs 6-7 on the back of the sweater. Pro Tip: on the diagonal motif, the initial tail of the MC, when added into the bottom edge trim, can be left extra long to allow for use on the short back seam. About 15-20 inches is plenty. Coil and fasten it with a locking st marker until needed. Saves weaving in two ends.
