Notes

This is a little top which goes under the Christening robe I have made. The photo shows the top under the dress.

I’ve made loads of changes to the way this is made because I don’t have much time and I know I won’t be able to make the full dress before the christening. I’ll just see how I get on.

Mods:

  1. knit the sleeves first, the first 12 rows are garter, then I did a row of ‘K2tog, yarn over’ then went into stockinette. I then knitted for a further 70 rows (to get the sleeve as long as the sleeves on a 3-6 month baby gro) My plan is that the garter stitch part can be folded under if his arms are shorter or left out if they are long.
  2. provisional cast on the bodice and at the end of each row I’m knitting two together (one stitch from the bodice and one from the sleeve)
  3. once both the sleeves were attached I put the live stiches and the provisionally cast on ones onto a circular needle and knitted for a few rows. I then finished it with 8 rows of ribbing.

I plan to knit the rest of the skirt if I have another baby. At that time I can unpick the ribbing and attach the waistband insertion, then I’ll knit the skirt from the waist down before attaching a border as for the main dress.
