Notes

Starting my May hat for the 12 hats in one year challenge. I’m using up some synthetic yarn I got from pulling apart a scarf (I’m guessing it’s worsted.) I’m using size 2 needles for the brim.
I’ve dropped the cast on number down to 120 because 144 seemed much too big. I’m also going to use size 4 needles for the body because I don’t have a size 3 circular.
Hopeful these changes work and I have enough yarn…

Got about 1/3 of the way through the pattern(second to last photo) and decided I wanted to up the stitches to the original size---looks like I should have enough yarn and I like a slouchy hat. So I ripped back to the ribbing and did one round of purling, making one every 5 stitches to increase up to 144. Hopefully it works out.

All done. I skipped three of the work even rounds near the end because I was getting perilously close to the end of my yarn. Ended up with just enough.

Turns out it can be worn like a slightly slouchy beret or a snug cap.
