Notes

This is such a gorgeous pattern.
As usual for me I am knitting these mittens flat and seaming the outside with mattress stitch afterwards - I do so hate working in the round.

December 9th: finished one and started the lining of the second.

Tweaks:

  • am only using the 2 flower colours on the cuff as I’m not a huge fan of yellow.

  • Am working the thumb in the same
pattern as it’s so pretty and I prefer it to the block of red in the pattern

  • I’ve added 2 stitches to the pattern to allow for seaming, so I cast on 54 stitches

  • I’ve not used the provisional cast on just used a regular cable cast on and am sewing the cast on edge of the cuff in place.

  • because of knitting these flat, when I did the row for the centre of the flowers I found it easier to break off the flower colour yarn and rejoin it at the start of the following row rather than carrying it across the back of a row in which it is not worked at all.

I have quite small hands and I found that they were a little long. If I make another pair I would be tempted to move the thumb further up the body of the mitten or start the shaping for the top on the band below.
