8/14/09: Finished middle portion. The diamond pattern is very easy to memorize.

When attaching the border to the short sides, I remembered that this border was scrunched up on the short sides of Miss Lambert’s Shetland shawl, so at the end of every 6th row and every 12th row, I knit the border stitch thru the back loop with TWO center panel stitches instead of one.

8/15/09: I finished the border. I ended up using 650 yards of yarn rather than 750, which is what the pattern calls for, but I also used a laceweight yarn rather than the sport weight called for in the pattern.
