11.26 - completed and given to Phil. He told me he really likes the colors and is surprised by what a difference it makes in keeping him warm. Don’t think he’s ever had a scarf before.
The yarn was a bit scratchy, but used a bit of hair conditioner when I washed and it made a difference, tho it’s not soft.
It really grew with washing and patting out. When finished crocheting - 67 1/2 x 8. Didn’t block, just laid out and push/pulled into a good looking shape.
11-5 - I wanted to make scarf for my brother-in-law and had picked out this yarn last week. It absolutely didn’t work for the pattern I had in mind. Then, the other day I came across this project - done not only in this yarn, but in the same colorway. I liked it very much, tried to figure what she’d done and also commented on her scarf. Anna kindly wrote back and also wrote up a pattern. The pattern is very clearly written and she’s included a photo in a solid color, non-fuzzy yarn. It would be easy to follow for ones new to this stitch pattern.
With my scarf, I’m using a J hook, getting an 8” width. Into the 4th skein now, 3 skeins gave me about 45”. Phil was over last night, so I was able to get an idea of what length I’ll need - I think about 4 1/2 skeins. Was also able to make sure he would like the colors.
Couple things I did differently. Started with 28 foundation hdc. Also, instead of ch2 to replace first hdc, I’m doing ch1, hdc in first stitch. A chain in place of a stitch feels too skimpy for my preference.
Now I need to go take a photo of both the yarn and the project.
