9-9-12 - My daughter was here in July for about 60 hours and I managed to check width I had on sleeve - too wide - rip out, rework. She was leaving early Friday morn, we had a family dinner Thursday night, so stayed up late to finish sewing sleeves on and hiding ends. The completed photos were taken next morning before she left so had no choice but to take poor photos on a rainy day. But she really likes it and was able to take it with her.
1.9.12 - Zipper is in! and I didn’t have to do it! Melody is a wonderful sewer and after giving me suggestions, offered to do the sewing herself. Such a good friend and she did a beautiful job. As you can see in photos, she used bias tape?, so zipper has both sturdiness and a finished edge. The zipper is completely hidden when closed and, best of all, does not catch on the yarn when zipping up and down. Now if I can just get around to finishing the last sleeve and sewing them on.
1-21-11 I was asked if I finished this and realized how long it’s been since I said I needed to put that zipper in. Got together with friends who know than I about sewing. The suggestion is to use grosgrain ribbon, giving more strength and a finished edge. One concern is finding the color, so they each took a snippet of yarn to see if they have anything in their stash. If not, I’ll look for something myself. So, a step closer to finish.
Actual H hook is a Tunisian hook.
Pattern is really only a starting point for me.
began with base of 128 sc on G hook, changed to H Tunisian hook and began working in Tunsian dc, getting a gauge of 17 st and 6 rows to 4” x 4”
7-28-10 added a couple photos in progress
Body is done, except need to put in zipper, which I haven’t done in 30? years and never in a crocheted item. Nervous about messing it up. Didn’t have enough yarn for hoodie. Sara chose this idea for a collar, which looks good.
Sleeves are worked cuff up because Tunisian and are almost done, but don’t want to put on til zipper is in, so I guess I’d best get to it.
