Notes

This pattern is really easy because the designer has made it quite hard to screw it up. I managed to anyway and was forced to frog and restart, more than once.
If my attention hadn’t wandered at a crucial point…
Hint: Use a locking marker to identify the RS from WS because you really want those 90 new sts to be on the proper side.
Hint: Don’t chose a yarn that splits easily.

On the bright side I did make a minor change that improved the look of the edge and I learned an effective technique to solve an irritating problem

  • To neaten edge: On rows where the first 2 sts are used in a dec or inc I moved it forward by 1 st. ex: Row 135: Ssk, k to m…. would become: K1, ssk, k to m… I also worked the ssk as sl1 k-wise, sl1 p-wise, I think doing it this way makes the dec lay flatter.

  • CO at the end of a row: That loose messy place where the newly co sts meet the sts already in use really annoys me. I’ve tried various fixes to tighten that slack area but this technique from TECHknitter is the only one that actually works, for me anyway.

After making sure the markers for each section were in place and co/bo as needed I used the tables exclusively to track rows. The running st count helps make sure the inc/dec have been done properly.

After day sand days of rainy, raw weather it finally dried! Got photo.
