This pattern was extremely easy and worked up quickly. I used less than 60 yds. HOWEVER, this hat would never fit my 4 year old granddaughter, maybe my 2 year old nephew. It would be great if they adjusted this pattern for more sizes. I bought this yarn in 4 different colors to make them for my niece, nephews & granddaughter so they had “matching” hats.
Mod: increased CO to 72 sts.
Since my i-cord stitches are not very even, I started these off using horse rein with the tool DH turned for me on his lathe (see bottom pic); picked up the 4 stitches with the crochet hook and slid them on the knitting needle to start the earflap. Worked like a charm, stitches are even and tight.
6/18/14: Done! Easy & quick to make. Yarn is soft but knots in every skein, one of which came apart right after I finished the last hat and started unraveling!!
