Notes

A bit tight to get on.

I made the toes and heels of the second sock spiral the opposite direction. It’s possible to make something that’s symmetrical to a kfb, but in order to make a fabric that looks reflected you just need to do the kfb one stitch sooner since the increase shows but it really doesn’t show what stitch it comes out of.

The first sock came out too long. I took the toe off, unraveled a bit, and grafted it back on. That was after having to unknit half of it when I first got to the ankle due to not having enough increases. I don’t agree with the statement at the beginning of the book that this is a good sock method for beginners; too much trial and error--and yarn is cut in the process so it’s not as amenable to trial and error as something like a short row heel.

What I like best about the personal footprints concept is storing sock pattern information on a piece of cardboard to compare against. But there’s hardly any reason for it to be foot shaped. I made a new one that’s a strip so that it fit in the 9” circular. And takes up less space.
