Cast On:

  • CO 72 stitches (This can be knit single or magic loop)

  • I used the Long Tail CO method

  • Work K2, P2 for around 1 to 1.5 inches or whatever length you wish the cuff to be.

  • Work the leg until around 4-5 inches or whatever length

For the heel:
* I use a mock short row heel using the steps from this exact video: https://youtu.be/C2OnY2a5ovY?si=_hceVoaeO69ohl4H

Since I used 72 stitches I divide it by 2 and get 36 stitches for my heel separated into 3 sections: 12 | 12 | 12. The middle 12 does not get worked. Only the left and right sides.

  • Row 1 (RS): SL 1 (As if to purl), k to last 2 stitches, k2tog
  • Row 2 (WS): K1, purl to last 2 stitches, p2tog
  • Row 3 (RS): P1, k to last 2 stitches, k2tog

This creates a “beaded” garter stitch edge

Continue working Row 2 & 3 back and forth until there is only 1 stitch left in the left and right sectioned stitches for the heel. It should look like 1 | 12 | 1

This is the set up for starting the increases/turning the heel. Since I started with 12 in the outer sections then I will work the mid-heel stitches and pick up the “beaded” stitches until I work back up to the 12 | 12 | 12

Mid-Heel:

  • Row 1 (RS): P1, knit across

  • Row 2 (WS): Sl 1 (As if to purl), purl across

  • Row 3 (RS): Sl 1 (As if to purl), knit across all stitches on the needle, PU 1 stitch under the first “bead”

Work back and forth across each row, slipping the first stitch (As if to purl) and picking up 1 stitch along the “beaded” edge

Once your heel stitch section is back to the original amount of stitches you can now rejoin back into the round to continue to work the foot and toe stitches

Foot:

Work Knit stitches until you get the length needed to cover the foot.

Toe:

To knit a rounded toe, you will need a multiple of 8 stitches. The toe is divided into equal sections with 8 stitches in each section. A 56-stitch sock will have 7 sections, a 64-stitch sock will have 8 sections, and a 72-stitch sock will have 9 sections. Each decrease round will eliminate one stitch in each section.

  • Row 1: K6, k2tog; rep from to end of rnd.
  • Row 2–3: Knit.
  • Row 4: K5, k2tog; rep from to end of rnd.
  • Row 5–6: Knit.
  • Row 7: K4, k2tog; rep from to end of rnd.
  • Row 8–9: Knit.
  • Row 10: K3, k2tog; rep from to end of rnd.
  • Row 11–12: Knit.
  • Row 13: K2, k2tog; rep from to end of rnd.
  • Row 14–15: Knit.
  • Row 16: K1, k2tog; rep from to end of rnd.
  • Row 17–18: Knit.
  • Row 19: K2tog; rep from to end of rnd. 1 stitch remains in each section.

Cut yarn and thread tail onto yarn needle. Draw tail through remaining stitches, pull snug, and bind/fasten off.
