I just wanted a simple stripe blanket with some textural interest. Fast and easy to knit. This yarn is so soft and lovely! Perfect for a baby (of any age, me included!!)

Well, after some miscalculations on my tiny amounts of each colour - I made a work around for this blanket. I started with 2 full skeins of natural, 2 full skeins of clarity (blue), 1 skein of ice lily and 1 full skein of chocolate. In addition to that, a while ago I bought tiny sample skeins of each colour. They were 14-16g each. I wanted to see the colours in person as seeing them online doesn’t always show true.
I knew they would make a great striped section for a blanket - so this was the perfect project for them. BUT, I clearly need some math lessons, since I tried to calculate my yardage based on the weight. I messed up and when I wrote up my pattern, I thought I could get 12 rows of each colour. Turns out, it’s only 4 rows per tiny skein.
So, I adjusted my pattern to include 2 extra stripes of blue and natural. I have wide stripes at the top and bottom (in natural, clarity and chocolate) then the middle section of small stripes in every colour - looks GREAT!. I’m just finishing up the last of the small stripes then I’ll work the remaining 12 row stripes and I’m done! I can’t wait to see if off the loom!

I am just starting the last 12 rows of blue then I can bind off! Yay! It was a fast night and fun to do. Super easy to remember the 2 rows in the pattern. LOL. Just the kind of knitting I like to do when the kids are running around or it’s the evening and I’m more relaxed and sleepy. :)
I cant wait to finish it (tonight) and I’ll wash and dry it tomorrow….while I have my fingers crossed and praying it comes out ok. :)

Finished the knitting last night. Doing bind off and weaving in tails today…..then, the ultimate test: washing and drying! ;)
Gifting the item on Monday or Tuesday. Yay!

So, yesterday was fun! LOL. I worked for an hour on the super stretchy bind off and got one side done. Hit the first corner and froze. I posted in the blog and got some help from those wonderful ladies. As I’m figuring out a work around, I realize (thank goodness!) that I forgot to do the last six rows in the seed stitch border! So, I had to undo the bind off, tink back six rows, reknit them and then bind off again. This time I used a different bind off that worked perfectly!
So, if I have time today, it will be weaving in my many tails and then washing/drying the blanket. Let’s hope it stays in one piece! ;)
