Notes

NOTE TO ANYONE VIEWING THESE SWATCHES. THIS COLOR WAS CONSIDERED TOO DARK (BUT PRETTY!). I DIDN’T HAVE TO RESUBMIT BECAUSE OF THE COLOR, BUT I WAS ASKED TO USE A LIGHTER COLOR FOR LEVEL II.

2/15/12 --- PASSED!

1/9/2012 --- Got my submission back. I’m pouring through it right now. Pretty good news. I should be resubmitting within the month.

10/30/2011 --- finished everything. Will mail the package tomorrow.

10/8/2011 --- re-knit swatches 1, 2, 3 (this one twice), and 14. (they’re the purple ones)

10/1/2011 --- Back from Masters Day at the TKGA Fall Show. I’m re-knitting all my swatches. I showed them swatch #3 (rejected for too many holes) and swatch #6 (rejected because of a knot in the yarn) and swatch #15 (my choice of cable --- praised as very good). I learned so much at the conference that I’m sure re-doing the swatches is the right thing. I know what to look for this time through.

9/5/2011 --- I’m going to the TKGA Fall Show and that got me moving on the swatches. I finished them all and blocked them. I’m going to take them to the show for “On Your Way to the Masters” for review. In the meantime I’ll work on the package and plan to send it off some time in October.

7/8/2011 --- Finished swatch 2; 15 rows of rib, the 16th row was the increase row. 33 rows of stockinette stitch, row 33 was bind off.

7/8/2011 --- Finished swatch 1; 15 rows of rib, the 16th row was the increase row. 45 rows garter stitch, 45th row was bind off.

6/28/2011 --- I used Ella Rae for the new swatches. After blocking, I’m not happy with the yarn. The knitting is too open so I think size 7 needles aren’t appropriate. The yarn really doesn’t have any spring either. I’m changing yarn back to Cascade 220, I’m going to use size 6 needles. Waiting for the new yarn to come in the mail.

Also, after looking at other people’s submissions realized I used K2P2 ribbing on swatch 2 when I should have used K1P1. Remember to read and re-read the instructions!

Restarted 6/24/2011 with new instructions published 8/2010.

This time I plan to knit swatch, block, measure gauge and then answer the questions for each swatch before moving on to the next.

Swatch 1 --- Rib 10 rows. Increase on 11th row for 2 inches. Garter stitch for 40 rows.

Swatch 2 --- Rib 10 rows. Increase on 11th row for 2 inches. Stockinette stitch for 36 rows.

Swatch 3 --- Seed stitch for 34 rows.

Swatch 4 --- five repeats of the cable.

Swatch 3 --- 8 rows/inch (finished 7/17/10)

Swatch 2 --- went quickly. stupid yarn had a knot in the middle of the ball :-( rib = 18 rows; stockinette stitch 7 rows/inch (finished 7/11/10)

Swatch 1 ---tentative, but went well. rib = 18 rows; garter stitch 10 rows/inch (finished 7/11/10)
