Notes

I made a PDF chart for this. Click this link to view the PDF in Google Documents. There is also an option from that page to download the original. Ignore the numbers down the left side - those were my little counting notes for shaping (which I ended up ignoring as well.)

Finished: It looks quite pretty on Pippin and we’ll probably have my friend’s blue rat terrier model it one day as well. This yarn shows off the moss stitch beautifully. Love that moss stitch, though it’s a challenge to increase and decrease gracefully in it. The body shaping is inspired by the Darling Darby pattern.

Update: I ripped out the whole flat piece of knitting and restarted in the round. The biggest challenge is making pretty increases and decreases in moss stitch without messing up the stitch pattern. One trick that I found was to follow the increases with a purl, always. I’m sure there is a better way to do this, but I have the L and didn’t feel like doing any research.

I’ve figured out that I need to complete six diamonds in the center pattern to get the right back length. I’m halfway through the fifth. Won’t be finished for August, but should be finished sometime soon.

Swatched. Got pretty close to gauge with a US 1.5 needle.

Notes: I made a chart for this. If anyone would like a copy, please PM me with your email address and I’ll send it to you. It’s a PDF and would be useful as a print out or sent to an e-reader. I’m viewing it on my kindle and it’s working out well.

The second picture shows the start of the A-chart. I thought it looked strange and questioned the direction of the cables. I figured I’d include a good photo of how it’s supposed to look for anyone who questions it like I did. The chart is correct - it just looks strange at first.

This yarn is lovely. Not really appropriate for a dog sweater, but it does show off the cables and textures.
