Plan: to create applique Scrabble tiles with my grandparents’ initials, to sew onto a crocheted tile bag.

Attempts at making the applique:

1. “J” in pink & brown, using 2.75mm hook — a little stiff, wrong colours, mostly to learn how to do tapestry crochet
2. “S” in white & black, using 3.25mm hook — right stiffness, but I didn’t like the colours as much as I thought I would. Would like to try using brown & black. Make sure not to do the border row on the wrong side.
3. “J” in brown & black, using 3.25mm hook — messed up in a few different ways, but it mostly looks good. Starting to get the hang of tapestry crochet

Started the bag portion about a week ago… and now can’t remember what hook I was using! I suspect the 4.5mm but am unsure. Argh.

I wasn’t right about 4.5mm… but I decided to make it bigger anyways, and inc. 8x also.

• Attaching the first tile went so much better than expected! It’s very secure and lined up nicely. Now just to make the “S”…
• Also added the drawstrings, which I chained using the black yarn and a 3.5mm hook, and then attached the sides of the drawstring with 4-5 slipstitches. I’m hoping this helps keep them secure for a long while.
