Update: wasn’t done by TNNA, and sadly, this sweater was the tragic result of overblocking. Its flat as a pancake! What to do now?

On a positive note, my gauge experiment worked! Ok, so I subbed a DK weight yarn, but didn’t much feel like doing the math, because I’m super lazy. So I multiplied my gauge (5.25 stitches per inch) by my intended size (36”), getting 189, a number that theoretically means the number of stitches around the bust that my garment should be. Then I found the size in the pattern that corresponds to the number 189 by multiplying gauge by size (4 stitches per inch times 46”=184) Close enough! I made the 46” size without any real modifications other than repeating the center panel three more times to add length.

Could this totally lazy method work with everything?
