Another wonderful pattern from Mairlynd. The shawl is super big and squishy soft…and my favorite shape, for an asymmetric triangle, being long and shallow! :)) The shell dip stitch is super fun to knit and I especially love how it looks on the bind off edge. I did go down a needle size, as I typically prefer bello on 3’s, plus my shell dip stitch looked better on smaller needles…I would suggest swatching this stitch to get some practice and see what works best. (the video link on Melanie’s knitting technique page is super helpful) As always, I did the optional yarn over after the first stitch of every RS row, as pattern suggests.

7/2/16…Although the Bumblebirch yarn is wonderful to knit, and provides amazing stitch definition, I was not happy with my original color choices for this pattern. After much stash diving, swatching & mind changing, I decided to go tonal with my colors…now I’m in love!

I am shifting the double shell dip stitch pattern repeats by three stitches, moving them away from the leading edge a bit more. With consideration of my tonal colors, this helped the shell dip stitch detail stand out a bit better, imo. Placement of single sets of shell dip stitch pattern remains as written.

First half:
Background color is High Cotton with alternating shell stitch pattern of Flannel (double repeat) and Wintry mix (single repeat)

Second half:
Background color is Wintry Mix
Shell dip stitch pattern repeat #1 = Flannel
Shell dip stitch pattern repeat #2 = High Cotton
Section 3 and bind off = Flannel

Finished Size:
112” wingspan x 26” deep
