when I came accross the knitted quilt, I immediately loved it. But I prefer to crochet, so I wanted to give the crocheted version a try.
I do not have many sock yarns, so I started with some other yarns - a bit bulkier with a size 3.5 mm hook.
This results in a hexagon about 10 cm from point to point.
Some yarns give a slightly smaller hexagon - in that case I crochet the last round in triples instead of doubles. And so it fits with the others.

23/09: I have finished 4 hexagons in different colours.
I do realise it’s going to be a long term project :-) I hope the cat can wait….

Note: I use sheet of fiber fill, I cut the hexagon form a little smaller than the crocheted part - this gets a more even finish than when filling it with loose fibrefill.

03/10: I have so far finished 15 hexagons
05/10: finished 20 hexagons
23/10: finished about 40 hexagons in different materials and shades. I could already have a cat blanket, but I want to make more hexapuffs to make a blanket at least double the size
12/11: about 60 hexagons finished, I’m almost there

28/11: the blanket is finished; it measures about 110 cm x 70 cm, so it’s quite OK.
Although my husband wondered why I didn’t continue until I had one the size to cover a bed.
Maybe that will be for another time, when I ever happen to have so much freetime again :-)

All in all, this was a very fun and satisfying project, easy to carry with you and work on when not at home.
