Notes

CO 82 for back, on extra stitch on each cable to be used for sleeve pickup. Make sure to do cable without extra stitch?
No shaping, I think. Long tail cast on, pick up in upward v.
First cable on row 11 on back to make them flow seamlessly/ evenly over the shoulder. Try row 7 on front, to account for losing a row in the shoulder pickup?

Swatch:
21x25 4” cable size US 10
20x 20 4” cable size is 10.5

December 1, 2024

Finished row 8 of 3rd repeat of cable pattern for the back and it’s looking narrow so doing a block. Unstretched it’s only 15”x 9x. I’m thinking I’ll need to frog and remake with 1 or 2 more cables across

December 3, 2024

Frogged it and added another cable repeat to make it 22” wide instead 18”.

December 5, 2024

Have upper back done with 6 cables and 5 relief panels, + 1 on each end for sleeve pick up so 99 stitches total.

Completed row 14 of back before getting to 10” for deep arm holes, start on row 15 of 18 row cable

Pick up 31 for shoulders. Knit 9 rows and cable on row 10, restart row 1 on counter here

December 6, 2024

Neck shaping begins after 2 cables, finishing next row 2/ ON row 3

Do six increases, RS rows ending on row 11 of cable pattern. Place on stitch holder and do right side.

December 6, 2024

Left off on row 2 of cable pattern for right side shoulder. Start on row 3 which is RS and begin neckline increases.

Do M1R, as I used M1L on left shoulder, and stay in pattern. Work 6 total increases every other row. Make 13th cable stitch into a purl. Add 4 more purls total on rows 3, 5, 7. Add knit stitches on rows 9, 11

December 15, 2024

Finished ball on yarn on body on round 16 (marker on row 16, need to finish that row, knit row 17 and cable row 18, which is also row 1)

Time to cast on collar and sleeve. Pick up 85 for sleeve for 20” circumference. Alternate 2/3 3/4 sts. Knit 1st cable on 10th round and 18th thereafter. NOTE TO SELF- place reverse stockinette relief section at top of shoulder, not cable. It looks weird on the deltoid

Straight sleeve or decreases?

Need to decide on ribbing. 1x1 or 5x4x4x4 or 4x4 and eliminate one stitch from each relief section ? 180 sts around collar. Pick up rate?

December 24, 2024

Collar pick up using US 8, knitting 4x4 rib using US 9. Knit 3 inches, doing mid project block

OOPS! Knit body on blue metal US 9 - NOT US 10. Knit sleeve on Russi bamboo US 10! YIKES!

This makes the collar look RIDICULOUS. I thought I was dropping down one from the body and it is the same

January 4, 2025

frogged the sleeve and collar, and this sat in timeout for a while while I licked my wounds. Tried it on again and though it won’t be as oversized as I hoped, I think it will still work, so I’m not gonna frog the whole body and start over. I am considering adding a few stitches to the reverse stockinette relief stitches on the hips or on the rear if I need more room.

Meanwhile, I picked up the neckline again on a US 6 metal (INOX) 16-inch circular needle. I knit 4 x 4 rib for 3 1/2 inches and put on a stitch holder. After I get more of the body knit, I can consider if I want to fold the collar down or if I want to keep going and make it into a turtleneck.

January 5, 2025

Picked up 68 sts (4 cable and relief segments) for sleeve with US 8.
Using short row sleeve cap because not oversized enough for drop sleeves.
Did cable on row 18

January 15, 2025

Frogged the short row sleeve… needed to pick up a few more stitches and the short rows wouldn’t be balanced. Tried again with standard drop, shifting 2 cable segments to the front of the sleeve, picking up 85 sts, 3 cable segments to sleeve back, reverse stockinette at top of shoulder. Shoulder seam set to the back of shoulder, after the stockinette relief stitches

Stopped sleeve at green stitch marker chain. US 6 needle 4x4 rib for cuff. Decreases-Purl last two sts together of each relief section.

February 8, 2025

Have just been knitting the body after finishing collar and sleeves. Right above the widest part of my hips I added four stitches into the side relief panels (2 on each side) to give me the teensiest bit more ease.

I have 32” in length and finished both merino and alpaca balls of yarn. Went to get the rest to keep in the basket with my WIP and I ONLY HAVE ONE BALL OF ALPACA REMAINING! I think accidentally sizing down the needle made me use more yarn, AND I underestimated, AND I may be missing a ball somewhere. I have 11 in my order history and I only have 10 ball bands altogether. Sigh… going to order more…..

February 27, 2025

Finished my fix it February projects and my yarn arrived so I picked this back up last night. Currently two inches above my knee. A ways to go….
