I was spinning a couple samples of “Rats of Nimh” from Luthvarian Fiber Arts, and my cat became obsessed with the fiber. This is the first time in 15 years that she’s paid any attention at all to any wool or yarn. All she wanted to do was lay her head on it. I’m making her a mat so that she can do just that. The instructions are in Finnish, so I hope I’m doing it correctly. The wool is Finn, so a Finnish pattern only seems right.
According to the Google translation, the instructions tell me to: “work the same loop correctly, the bust and correct”, whatever that means. When I get to that part in the instructions, I’m just knitting into the same stitch 3 times (back, front, back). I don’t know if it’s going to turn out looking anything like what the pattern intends, but it looks interesting and it’s for a cat, so that’s okay.
(Actually, I really like how the pattern stitch is turning out, and it does look the way it’s supposed to. I think it would make a very nice lace scarf. I’m using a lace-weight yarn instead of the sport-weight that the pattern calls for. If I were using a heavier weight, this would make a very nice washcloth as the pattern intends.)
