Notes

So I knit this hat to serve as a gauge swatch for this project and based on those measurements I decided to knit the size 49 expecting to get something around a 43. My bust measurement right now is 41.5. While knitting the first sleeve I decided I should probably knit the 45.25 size. I adjusted my increases accordingly and will go ahead with that plan. I envisioned this as being an oversized sweater so we’ll see what happens! At this point I think I could end up with a bigger sweater than I bargained for but I feel ok moving forward.

First sleeve used about 71 grams white, 15 grams brown, and 10 grams gold.

Tension is even better on the second sleeve and I am so excited to be moving on to the body!

Body ribbing completed! I think I’ll likely make it to the first body chart tonight.

I am loving this knit, it has been so much fun! I am about to knit the very last chart and hope to complete the yoke by the end of the week!

Okay so I knew better to knit this in superwash yarn but I told myself it would be fine and I’d do an excellent job of reinforcing the steek. Well…I didn’t. I just did the standard crochet reinforcement and it was not enough. I picked up all the stitches for the buttonband and became really nervous. After knitting all the short rows I decided to do a steek sandwich with some wooly yarn (using the sport weight wool) hoping to give additional reinforcement and at the very least put it out of sight and out of mind. I think it helped but I suppose only time will tell.

I absolutely love this sweater, the fit turned out exactly the way I wanted and I love all the colors. I was so excited to wear it I gave it a quick steam and have been wearing it without any buttons on it…who knows if I’ll ever get to sewing some on.
