Ok, so I’ve decided to actually make myself things and I’m going to start in September with this Boxy sweater ..even though I’m +size, I think this looks super comfy and in the worsted weight yarn, it should knit up within the KAL timeframe. I’m thinking grey yarn with speckles ..maybe, anyway here’s to the first project for me!

I was sitting there knitting Joe’s teddy jumper when I realise that I truly adore the colours …so I jumped online & ordered the exact colours in worsted weight for me! - Bendigo Woollen Mills, Luxury Slate with 1 ball of Moonshine (or something like that) for the sleeves.

Ok, time for brutal truths and as I actually want to wear this Boxy jumper, time for some true measurements to figure out the sizings I should be making.
The roundest part of me is 57.5” so that makes makes choosing the measurement for the body circumference interesting, the smallest is 64” then 3 x 68” then it jumps to 76”. 76” would be just too big & I think I’d be embarrassed to wear something that big and would feel ‘big’ all the freakin’ time. 64” gives me a little room but hey, this jumper is called Boxy, so that means more room than an average jumper so I’m going with 68”.
Sleeve circumference - my measurements is 13” (with 2 layers of clothing on because, hey it’s winter here!) so I think I’ll go 14”.
Length from shoulder to bum is 25” and I’d rather a longer than shorter version, so I’ll go 26” - to be checked as I knit it for length. I’m thinking of starting of as seamed and then after the ribbing join in with the back (with the back a little longer) to give it a high-low split hem. So to summarise for quicker notes, I’ll be making:
Body circumference 68” (to fit my 57.5”)
Sleeve circumference at elbow 14” (to fit my 13”)
Length from shoulder to bottom 26” (to fit my 25”)

Gauge - soaked, blocked - 19rows = 4inches -- I knit tighter in the round, so that should work out fine with this gauge (I hope so anyway!!)

just starting my 3rd bwm ball, so that means that 400gms of worsted weight yarn has knit 18inches in the round! …now to get to 20 inches before the arm shaping!

so glad I kept these notes on Rav ..cos the kids drew all over my pattern then cut it up to make dinosaurs!
I’m up to the neckline ..yay! remembering to do the 68” for the body.

Woo Hoo !!!! I actually finished something for myself! Yarns have been sewn in, soaked and now it’s drying - I didn’t need to block it as the yarn really relaxed when it was soaking!
