I’ve been wanting to make a custom Mega-mini Addy. Yesterday was the day. It took four tries to get her bonnet started, but once it was done she needed a hair cut and an outfit.
I am tickled with how she turned out. I got the skirt on the first try. I cast on 16 and did two rows of k1, p1 rib. Then I did kfb increases across, a row of purl and a row of k3, kfb. From there I knitted stocking stitch until the hem, did a row of black and another of blue and two rows of seed stitch. I stitched the back seam all the way up. You can take these dolls apart at the waist to put the skirt on. Once it was on, I did a running stitch between the ribbing and the gathers to snug it up.
The jacket is based on my tiny cardigan pattern. I kept notes if anyone is interested in making one. The trim on the sleeves is knitted in. I embroidered a back stitch around the jacket edge.
With all the Mega-mini dolls I have, I didn’t have one with black legs. I think there was only one produced. I decided to try and paint her stockings. I googled and found a video for painting Lego Friends that used acrylic paint. I figured they are about the same, so that’s what I used. At first I was just going to use some of the black shoes I have, but then I got the idea to paint the short boots. This was a miss-matched pair with one blue and one pink. Now they match!
