Notes

With royal outfits for the mother and older daughter critters finished, I need to cosider the dads.

I am researching this morning what makes a king recognizable on the most basic basis. The small dolls made with larger yarn seem to narrow it down the best.

September 12, 2023

I started actual crocheting today. I decided to try a raglan top, hopefully with long sleeves.

Version 1 wound up fitting the big brother critter.

Version 2, with the addition of three stitches in the front, is looking better.

I keep taking photos at different stages because I think this pattern has lots of possibilities. I tried it on the critter before I added any brown, but when the sleeves were done and it made a great cardigan.

I think one more row of brown in the pic with the two bunnies and it could be a mod mini dress. Or maybe add the extra row in the green section for an even more mod look.

Success!! I got the first shirt and pants combo garment made. It’s a wonder the brown thread isn’t worn out as many times as I unraveled the part from waist to crotch and below. I think I finally got it right though. Now to see if I can replicate it and figure out some royal colors.

September 16, 2023

I started a third version. This time the shirt is the same gold color as the crowns. I crocheted an extra row of shirt color. Now if I could just decide on what color to make the pants. I’m inclind toward black, but I don’t seem to have any. Maybe purple?

September 18, 2023

I picked version 3 back up today and crochet to the crotch split, so far. I decided on the purple to go with the gold shirt. Hopefully it will look regal, but not so regal it can’t be used without the cape or whatever I wind up making to send it over the top.

It’s coming right along. The pattern seems to be OK so far. I have one leg finished. I think I quite like it with the short sleeves too. I really like the raglan shaping. I’m looking forward to trying a dress.

September 19, 2023

Second leg finished on version 3 and finishing work done, except for lengthening the sleeves. Now I’m not sure I want to.

I also got the buttons on v.1 and v.2.

September 23, 2023

Starting v.4. I’m thinking gold shirt and black pants. I’m planning for this one to go with the red family. Hopefully he will get a red cape or something, maybe a sash.

I finished row 3.

September 24, 2023

One leg finished on v.4.

September 25, 2023

V.4 finished except for sleeves. I put a brown belt on this one, too cute. I left a space for a sword to go through the belt.
