I should have practiced the cast on for the arm. I’ve done a few rows and decided that it looks too loose. I tried again with different yarn and it looks better, so I’ll rip out what I have and try again. Hands are important in a doll. I don’t want it to be misshapen or have loose stitches.

Woot, woot! I have a hand. I don’t know how many tries it took. I lost count. I kept either getting the last stitch way too loose, or if that worked out I twisted one of the needles. I hope it doesn’t take this many tries to start the next one.

Second hand finished. It went much more smoothly than the first. I got the cast on the first try. I also finished the first arm.

Second arm finished, on to the body.

Grr… I started the body this evening and got past the short rows, only realizing on the last one that I did the ssk’s wrong. I did them with the next stitch and not the previous stitch as written. I thought it would be OK so I did the next couple of rows and realized it won’t. Just ripped it all out and am starting over.
provisional cast on that I used

I made it a few rows past where I had to rip out and it’s time to go to bed. I’m glad that I decided to re-do what I had. It looks so much better. I hadn’t realized how narrow Theodóra’s waist is going to be.

I finished the knitting on her head. On to stuffing her body and knitting her legs.

I finally got back to knitting on Theodóra after a long stint of sewing bibs, leggings and Barbie clothes.
I sewed up her head, Kitchenered the underarms and stuffed her tonight. Not brave enough to tackle taking out the temporary cast on and starting the lower part. I’ll put that off until tomorrow.

She has a leg!! I’m pleased to get this much done today, especially after the rocky start I had with it. I was so confused about how to start the leg after I took out the provisional cast on. Finally it clicked and I was off.

All done!! Well, all except her face and hair, but close enough. I checked the measurements and the only one I’m off on is chest which is over an inch smaller. Hmm… maybe I didn’t stuff it enough. Hopefully the clothes will work.
I loved the fact that there were no seams to sew, no ends to weave in, and the stuffing was finished as soon as the knitting was done. I just had to Kitchener the last four stitches at the crotch. It was a bit odd working on that last leg with the rest of the doll finished and stuffed. Odd, but doable.
