Notes

I called these socks “Frog Toes” because I had to rip back a couple of times for various reasons, including the mis-alignment of a delightful lacey heart pattern that I simply could not get to line up properly. Decided to frog that and just knit these socks in straight stockinette.

I’ve decided that this whole pattern would be better off being done top down, as the toes could be the last thing done, rather than the first. The nature of making the toes from foot to tip, and then picking up the stitches makes these ideal for a top-down project, and it is my theory that ANY pair of top-down socks could be finished as toe socks, such as these.

I had a better time picking up the stitches from the waste yarn before picking up the stitches from the previous toe (opposite of what the pattern says). I finished off each toe with Kitchener Stitch when there were 4 stitches left on each needle, rather than 8, as the pattern calls for, as I preferred a more rounded/pointed toe over the more squared off toe that is shown in the pattern.

It is also my theory that these socks can be finished pinky toe to big toe, without all of the putting stitches on waste yarn as the pattern calls for. Just put the stitches not being worked onto stitch holders, work the pinky toe, make the additional rounds, work the next toe, etc, until you reach the big toe and finish that last. I will test this theory when I start the second sock.
